DC Universe Welcomes Wonder Woman At Six Flags Magic Mountain

By on 06/04/2011

I typically start my rounds each week up in the Sky Tower at Six Flags Magic Mountain. That provides a great aerial view of the entire park to see things that you might not be able to from the ground. As I was looking down at the work being done in DC Universe, there did not appear to be any changes to Wonder Woman’s Golden Lasso since last week. However, once I got down in front of it, they had just started hoisting up a giant Wonder Woman graphic to attach to the front of the ride:

It’s so well done that it almost looks like someone superimposed a cartoon over the front of my picture. If you look close, it looks like she is holding onto her golden lasso in her left hand. I can’t wait to see how they finish off that detail:

Dont drop her, boys!

Flash was there too, but he was still laid out flat on the ground. I’m sure he’ll be mounted on his new perch by the end of the day:

These are the exact same type of images that we saw being installed on front of the new Green Lantern: First Flight ride the other day. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw one for Batman: The Ride once DC Universe opens back up.

Here is the latest shot of the Green Lantern: First Flight construction. The loading station platform looks fairly complete and now has a roof on it, but the cars have still not been installed:

Here is the giant Green Lantern statue being installed that Six Flags had teased us about as it arrived in a giant crate on the back of a truck. Looks like it is being installed in that giant planter box that the former Gotham City statue was mounted in:

The DC Universe store has gotten its new sign:

Zooming through both the gate and Wonder Woman’s Golden Lasso, I could see the new letters that spelled out PIZZA on the Watch Tower Pizza building:

do they still close the Sky Tower when it gets windy? It drives me nuts going there only to find out you cant go in the tower, Cant tell u how many times that has happen to me, Makes you wonder why do they close it? Do they think its really going to fall over with people in it on a windy day?? if so why is it still up?

They do close it in high winds. Even with a light breeze, you can feel it sway when you’re up there. Sometimes I have to steady myself against the glass while taking pictures because I’m moving too much to get a clean shot. You never know if it’s going to fall over some day or not, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, right? It’s also probably not a good thing trying to run the elevators up and down a shaft that’s being tweaked from the wind.
