DC Universe Update #5 At Six Flags Magic Mountain

By on 06/12/2011

With less than three weeks to go until the grand opening of the newly themed DC Universe at Six Flags Magic Mountain, and the brand new Green Lantern: First Flight roller coaster, we are seeing more glimpses of the finished product. As you can see from the following photos, lots has been done in the last week.

As you can see from my only aerial shot this week, the DC Universe store (far left) is getting more added to its sign. It’s hard to tell exactly what the symbol is going to be. I’m thinking that what we see here is just the lights for the back lighting and there will be a graphical overlay that goes over the top. You will also notice that the old Axis Department Store billboard is gone, having been painted over with grey paint:

The archway into DC Universe got a new topper, something it hasn’t had in several years:

Looks like the work on the arch isn’t quite complete. I’m guessing these are going to be for some sort of lighting:

The Green Lantern: First Flight roller coaster got a major new addition this week:

Here’s a shot of the entire ride with it’s new bling. I’m really hoping this symbol is outlined in green neon or something similar. The way this coaster is situated, it perfectly faces the I-5 freeway. It’s fairly unobstructed if you know what you’re looking for, but with the exact same color scheme as The Riddler’s Revenge behind it, it’s hard to make out. If this symbol were lit up at night, it would really stand out nicely:

As of today, the cars are still not attached to the ride. However, they have recently been moved from where they were behind Apocalypse to behind the administration building. You can just make out one of Batman’s blue loops in the below photo, with Green Lantern behind that:

I’m glad to report that the DC Universe restroom also received a fresh coat of paint with the new color scheme. I really hope they did something on the inside while they were at it:

I certainly hope they didn’t forget about these signs. With the Atom Smasher gone, they don’t exactly fit the new theme:

Even with the temporary Grad Night lighting rig and the construction walls in the way, you can really see the new DC Universe coming together. In just this one shot, you can see Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman, one of Batman’s loops, and of course the new DC Universe archway:
