Magic Of The Mountain Museum Adds More Pieces

By on 08/20/2011

The Six Flags Magic of the Mountain museum at the top of the Sky Tower has put some more pieces from the park’s early days on display. While I still don’t feel the museum is coming anywhere near its potential, I am glad to see that they are at least adding some new items for us to see.

The first thing I noticed when I stepped out of the elevator was a coaster seat from The Riddler’s Revenge. The lines you see on the inside of the headrest are there to make your ears a little more raw as your head bounces back and forth:

This is a pretty cool posted of ‘X’ from when it was new. I’m not a big fan of the color scheme that was chosen, but it did stand out:

These are links from the lift chains of both Goliath and Viper:

There are some pretty interesting dragon kites flying overhead. They are next to a Tatsu sign, so I’m assuming that they were used to promote the ride when it was new:

I’m guessing these were worn in some sort of show from yesteryear. The display is very sad. Spray painted foam heads that are all beat up and just thrown on a table with oversized silk cloth draped over the top. When I see a display this, it just screams out to me that someone really doesn’t care. I can’t even tell what the orange thing is:

I’m glad to see they are starting to fill the display cases that have been sitting empty:

The old pennants and photos should be framed and mounted on the wall. These cases should be filled with more things like the lunch box and tray:

I don’t know what show this was for, but it’s kind of sexy. I’m talking about the dress, not the wad of red silk that is presumably hiding an even more hideous base:

This was in with the props from the old Batman live action show. It looks like a Poison Ivy outfit, so I’m going to go with that as my guess:

Here’s an old Ninja uniform that has been put out on display with the other uniforms:

Obviously a uniform, but I have no idea what for. Maybe the old Alpenhaus restaurant?

I really like seeing some of these old pieces put on display, but I really wish they would label everything. I notice some labels, like on the lift hill chains, but not on everything. Is that because the people working on this have no idea what they are or just don’t think about it? If you have any details on any of these items, please let me know.

    I’m guessing the last uniform might have been from the Himalaya ride before it got remodeled. It looks like leiderhoisen.[ i spelled it wrong}

    That costume is from Das Alpinhause German Restaurant where Bernie Jones (20 years with farmer John’s poker pared ) performed… I should know, I was the sound man. I worked there from 1971-1980… and the pre Six Flags tales I could tell!
