Superman Closing On Feb 5th For Lex Luthor Construction
Our friends over at Screamscape just tweeted out an announcement that Sunday, February 5th will be your last day to ride Superman: Escape from Krypton at Six Flags Magic Mountain until the upcoming Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom ride opens. S:EFK will need to close during the construction of LL:DOD because the new ride is being attached to the side of the Superman tower. LL:DOD will be the world’s tallest drop tower at over 400′ high. We’ve been hearing rumors that construction would begin late Jan/early Feb, so this fits with that schedule. Although no official word from the park, unofficial estimates place the opening in May. I will be sure to post regular updates throughout the entire construction process, so check back often.

Very interesting…I thought MLK Day was the last day for S:EFK, so I went out and rode it then. Maybe I’ll go to the Mountain tomorrow. It’s a lot better than watching football anyway…

I am so annoyed about this! Why didn’t they get on with construction earlier? I am visiting in early April, first time in 10 years, and was really looking forward to riding Superman. Magic Mountain, you have failed me!

Have not been to SFMM in over 20 years, and my last visit there was when i was residing in LA from 1982-92. They were just building Flashback when I moved to Chicago IL. I Love and enjoy SFGA in Gurnee IL, but it’s not quite the same. And now with Superman the Escape or the new revamped Superman ride along with Lex Luthor attatched to both sides of it. I’m 35 and Pumped, and will visit my favorite Park again. I was sad to see Free Fall go and all other 1st generation Free falls, but addiding Lex Luthor but way higher, allows for Free falls spirit to ever be present. Thank You Intamin Ag, for all your work with these thrills over the last 30 years. Just 1 suggestion to Six Flags, and that be to change one of the Superman cars to go Fowards again like it’s originality. Allow riders the Option of going fowards or backwards. Backwards is hard on some peoples backs and stomachs. I do mean this and hope they consider this a thought. Thank You Magic Mountain and all the best in coming years.
