Totally Toddler Gets A New Name

By on 08/05/2012

This actually happened a few months ago, but I keep forgetting to comment on it. The Totally Toddler gift shop located in the High Sierra Territory section of Six Flags Magic Mountain, just outside of Bugs Bunny World, was renamed for the 2012 season. The new name is Suit Your Hero.

Renaming a gift shop isn’t anything new, but there’s usually an obvious reason for it. A re-theme of the area the store is located in or a change in the type of merchandise sold are common reasons to change a store name. However, I can’t figure out why this particular change was made, as the new name seems out of place to me. Here is a picture of the store with the old sign still in place:

Notice how the style and colors of the sign all blend in seamlessly with the store itself, and the giant Tweety Bird up top goes nicely with the Tweety Bird in the cage? It’s very cute and the name implies that it sells stuff for children. Now compare that with what the new sign looks like:

The style and colors of the new sign do not match anything on the building at all. It’s a big rectangular sign that looks like it was created by someone who never even looked at the  building it was going on and then just nailed it over the top of the old sign. It’s also obviously promoting super hero stuff for kids, but why here? This area of the park is heavy on the Looney Tunes theme for the little kids. The closest super hero ride is in DC Universe, quite a ways away. Is it just me? Does this make sense to anyone else?

Very interesting. Perhaps the rumored multi-launched coaster might carry a DC Comics theme? Only reasonable connection I could think of.

Little of SFMM’s attraction theming has ever made any sense. Panda Express—Chinese food—in the middle of Baja? An pizza place in the middle of Samurai Summit? Superhero rides all over the place? There’s no telling what kind of themes future attractions will have or where they’ll end up. I think in this case, the park is broadening the target of the store’s merchandise from just merchandise for toddlers to items for bigger kids.

Maybe DC Comics bought the rights to Usain Bolt and killed off Flash.

I’m not sure but what if there is going to be a big revamp on the high Sierra territory

I went to the park this past Friday August 3rd and has anybody else seen the mini parades the park is having? by mini i mean a single float that will drive around the park with music and dancers around them I spotted two different floats throughout the day one around 11 am and the other around 8 pm, I spotted both on the path that goes from the entrance to the DC universe the morning one was headed towards the entrance in front of Goliath and the night one was headed towards DC Universe in front of Wascals in High Sierra Territory. I don’t have any pictures to show but curious if anyone else has spotted these and since when have they been going on. It really livens up the atmosphere. I’m enjoying many of the changes going on though i do not agree with the new sign for Totally Toddler i was baffled by the crappy design of the new sign and the mismatch of the building compared to the sign itself

Those are part of their summer entertainment. The Looney Tunes Beach Bash goes from DC Universe to Golden Bear Plaza at 4:45 pm, Mon-Fri. The Rhythm of the Night parade goes from DC Universe to Valencia Falls at 9:00 pm on Saturdays and 8:30 pm on Sundays. There are several other groups that entertain around the park at various times, but the park doesn’t do a good job at letting you know when and where. Disneyland hands out a daily schedule of every act in the park.

Thanks Kurt had no idea these things were going on I thought it might just be for summer since i had never seen them before deep down inside i was hoping it was now a daily thing and not just for the summer. It would be nice instead of having so many third party advertisements at the park to at least use some advertisements for there own events. Thanks for the info.

The Rhythm of the Night show is supposed to end next weekend, so try to catch it if possible. I saw the show on Sunday and it was much more than I had expected, with a short but exciting fireworks display.

Judging by the looks of that generic style sign, I could only hope that it’s just a temporary place holder for the hopefully new real one that just wasn’t ready at this current time. I only say that because nothing ties together, the colors of the store, and they still have the tweety stuff up. That Bugs Bunny area including that big tree are totally slayed and needs some serious attention!
