Do You Like Seeing Trip Report Videos?

By on 12/07/2013

As I’ve been working on updating this site, I came across some old trip report videos that I experimented with a couple of years ago. The site was pretty new, so I’m not sure that many people actually saw them. Also, with so few followers back then, I didn’t really get much feedback so I just stopped doing them. Here’s one from early 2012, when Log Jammer was being removed:

With videos being so popular, I thought I’d revisit the subject and get your opinion on the matter. What do you think? Would you like to start seeing more videos from me, even if they’re just short little updates from the park? Leave a comment and let me know!

p.s. I finally created a proper “The Coaster Guy” YouTube channel and I’m in the process of moving all my videos over to it. The YouTube link above will take you there, but not all the videos are there yet. I hate losing the tens of thousands of views I had on the old channel, but it was linked to a personal Google+ account and they wouldn’t let me move it. Boo!!!

I think small videos like the log jammer one are good. However I wouldn’t start vlogging or doing whole trip reports on video. I also think that when you were doing the Full Throttle construction updates, videos would have been great. Speaking of that, I found this site surfing the web for info on Full Throttle, so I think that whenever there is a new thrill ride in the making, and you do construction updates, you get a wave of new people going on your website. Not that you can control that, I’m just saying that construction updates probably get this website a ton of users! 🙂 Keep up the amazing work! I truly enjoy this website and visit it daily!

Just to clarify, any videos I do would compliment the trip reports I do now, not replace them. I’d still do the full photo trip reports.

I found the site looking up Full Throttle too! And I think that a few videos would be new and exciting.

Looked good for me and in this one a glimpse of the removed worlds tallest fake tree. I will watch videos but my limit is under 2 minutes in length. Keep up the great work.

First of all, RIP log jammer. Second, I would like these videos. Maybe even a music video when you go to other parks (discovery kingdom or Knotts)

I like videos! I think they would be a nice addition to regular trip reports (which I also like).:)

Videos are good, but they are only good in small doses.

I prefer them without music as it takes away from the ambiance of the area.
Also a photo with a good, detailed caption (especially construction) helps the viewer understand in a little more detail what is actually happening.

I remember seeing a few “full throttle construction video updates” by a different blogger last year and it was done with a shaky camera, completely unfocused, no explanation on what the viewer is observing and accompanied by obnoxious music. The whole viewing experience was quite disturbing and it was hard to actually see what was happening without trying to pause and zoom etc.

You currently have the best trip/construction reports for this park on the web. I think this is because you take the time to take a good photo and explain what is in the photograph and have an understanding of what is happening and the overall process of a ride build.
Compared to some of the other trip reports elsewhere that have the one-liner captions and are often trying (and failing) to be funny.

    Your reports are far superior.

So yes, videos can enhance a trip report, if not used as the main content.

    Sorry for the long answer.

Oh yeah don’t add music. It’s kinda cheesy and takes away from the “theme park” feeling.

Lol *cough* *cough* WESTCOASTER *cough* *cough*.
I HATE when they try to put funny captions!
