Colossus Farewell Party At Six Flags Magic Mountain

By on 07/22/2014

No one can argue that Colossus isn’t going out with a bang. The 36-year old roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain is slated to give its last public ride on August 16th. What happens to it after that will remain a mystery until Six Flags announces their 2015 plans on August 28th. In the mean time, there’s still plenty of time to get one last ride in, and with the help of radio station ALT 98.7, you can also ride it during a private Colossus farewell party this coming Saturday night after the park closes.

On Saturday, July 26th, from 11:00 pm to 3:00 am, there will be a private Farewell Colossus party hosted by ALT 98.7. There are two ways that you can attend this very special event. You can either listen to ALT 98.7 and try to win tickets, or you can buy a ticket for just $36. Season passes are not valid for this exclusive event. Attendees will receive all access to both Colossus and Scream, entertainment will be provided by ALT 98.7, there will be hourly contests with prizes, and everyone will receive a one-of-a-kind Farewell Colossus button.

Come hang out with me at the Colossus farewell party and say goodbye to The Greatest Roller Coaster in the World!

Could Scream!’s inclusion in the ERT hint that the park is doing something with it in the next year? Possibly a removal or retheme?

By bet is that it is just because it is “in the neighborhood”, but I would love to see some theming and landscaping. I would hate to see it removed. I really like that ride.

August 28 is little more than a month away. I’m already predicting Rocky Mountain Construction transformations for Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Colossus and Six Flags New England’s Cyclone. There’s been some speculation about whether or not SFNE will be removing Flashback (Vekoma standard boomerang), some 2 years after receiving Goliath (SFMM’s former Deja Vu… Vekoma giant inverted boomerang). I’m assuming that Six Flags St. Louis’ The Boss getting RMC makeover may be on hold for now. With Six Flags Great America receiving Goliath in 2014… I’m predicting SFGAM possibly receiving 242ft tall SkyScreamer in former Ragin’ Cajun area. At flagship Six Flags Over Texas, I’m predicting an indoor coaster/dark ride attraction (possibly a new SFX concept), if not a compact outdoor coaster… and Roaring Rapids water ride reopening, following temporary closure. I’m predicting new coasters for Six Flags Great Adventure, Great Escape, and Over Georgia as well… Great Escape is long overdue for new coaster. I also see Aqua Twist/Tsunami Soaker attraction showing up at more Six Flags parks.

Six Flags Great Adventure is reportedly planning a resort hotel, which has yet to be built. Not sure if an indoor waterpark and Holiday In The Lodge event will be included. Six Flags is reportedly planning theme parks for Dubai, as well as 2 parks in China, which have yet to break ground.

You should try out “Go Fresh” which is now located in waterfront. It replaced the wings side there. I work in Waterfront and I’ve been waiting for you to notice it and write a review on it. Our items there are for Vegans and Vegetarians or anybody who wants to try it.

I had no idea. To be honest, I had such a horrible experience at the Totally Kick’n Chicken in Cyclone Bay that I’ve never went near the wings place at the Waterfront Commissary. I’m neither a vegan or a vegetarian, but I’ll totally check it out. Thanks for the heads up!

I worked on the ride a long time ago and gotta tell ya the it’s a back killer. The station height and passanger seating requires you to constantly bend down and after 6-8 hours your back can feel it. It was a fun ride to work and I have tons of stories that I share with family and friends…some funny, some bad, some that make you scratch your head,

While it sounds like fun, I don’t think I’m going to be up to going to this party. Also, I don’t have the money to put out for it—$36, if I recall. Between now and August 16, I’ll get in a ride or two and I should be good till Colossus is reborn in whatever form it will take.

I was the second last ride on the Cyclone, in the front row. It was still in well shape. As I try to plan a trip to cali, I’m afraid I’d miss my chance to ride it, being home to Six Flags New England, the Cyclone leaving us was uncalled for, hopefully for both the Colossus and Cyclone, will receive the Iron Horse treatment!!!! Hoping as if the rides are saved, instead of wasted and destroyed.

Will Goliath be closed for the demolition. Also hoping if it is an RMC treatment, then I hope itd be for 2016. Would hate to see a classic transformed as fast as they can. Sure put in a sky screamer for 15 and put time in to iron colossus. If that does happen, sky screamer most likely would be the tallest. You know what, that’s my prediction. Worlds tallest sky screamer for 2015 and the ultimate transformation for 2016.
