Boysenberry Festival Returns to Knott’s Berry Farm for 2016

By on 03/11/2016

The Boysenberry Festival returns to Knott’s Berry Farm from March 19th through April 3rd. Come join the party that celebrates the little berry that started it all – the boysenberry!  The 16-day festival returns with over 70, one-of-a-kind boysenberry inspired fare, drinks and more, the Wine and Craft Brew Tasting Garden, plus live entertainment and fun the whole family will love!

My favorite part of the Boysenberry Festival is all the delicious foods you can get that are made with boysenberries. Whether on meatballs, ribs, or chicken, the Boysenberry BBQ Sauce is so very tasty:

For something far to the right of ordinary, try the deep fried alligator bites with boysenberry aioli. If exotic meats aren’t your thing, then the fried cheese curds and spicy boysenberry dipping sauce may be what you crave:

The adults will appreciate the craft beer and wine vendors, which include boysenberry wine, boysenberry cider, and Belgium boysenberry beer:

For those with a sweet tooth, try the boysenberry cheesecake:

Boysenberry-filled churros are also always a huge hit:

Of course, the pièce de résistance is the famous Fun Bun, a deep fried cinnamon roll with boysenberry cheese topping that will make your mouth think it died and went to heaven:

There’s a ton of live entertainment throughout the event as well, including Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies:

The daily pie eating contests will separate the, well…hungry from very hungry:

The kids can dance with the Peanuts gang during Party in the Park:

After the sun goes down, Jammin’ in the Dark gets the adults moving:

Additional entertainment includes:

  • Dueling Fiddlers

  • Dueling Banjos

  • Salsa dancing

Many boysenberry food items can be sampled and purchased in the park:

Lastly, don’t leave without your very own boysenberry plant to grow at home:

I hate to admit it, but there is so much to see and do at the Boysenberry Festival that I usually spend the entire day there and never go on a single ride because I’m too busy. It’s a blast! If you’ve never been, try and get out there this year. You will not regret it! (All photos © Knott’s Berry Farm)
