How To Add Your Picture To Your Comment

More than one person has asked me this question, so I thought I’d do a quick post and answer it for everyone. When you leave a comment on this site, there is a grey silhouette of a person next to your post. I’ve been asked how you would go about uploading a photo or avatar to fill in that space.

WordPress, which is what I run this site on, along with many other online content management systems, are capable of populating your avatar space automatically using a globally recognized avatar (Gravatar) based on your email address. All you have to do is go to www.gravatar.com and sign-up for a free account and upload whatever photo or picture you want to be associated with your email address. Whenever you post a comment on a site that uses that system, like most blogs and other online sites, your picture will automatically appear.
